This is my first official blog post which I guess makes me an "official" blogger.... scary!
Being how I am, I have been totally over thinking my first post. When I saw this picture today, it reminded me of a conversation I have had with a few patients recently.
As chiropractors, we don't address life and death situations. We aren't working in the E.R. and we don't perform life saving surgeries. We don't treat life threatening injuries or administer medications. These scenarios are often made glamorous by television and movies; and while these life saving services are amazing there is more to life than merely being alive. This suggests that a person has a heart that is pumping and organs that are working relatively well. This concept does not lend itself to what kind of life this alive individual is actually experiencing.
In the world of chiropractic, or at least in the world of chiropractic from my perspective, we want more for our patients than for them to be simply living. Our hope for them is that they are not only surviving, but thriving. That they are living a life that is about quality and not only quantity.
While our medical counterparts are out there saving lives, chiropractors are working diligently each day to save QUALITY of life. Though saving quality of life may not make for suspense-filled television drama, I would say that it is glamorous. Because let's be honest, there isn't anything much better than seeing patients live a life to its fullest.
Be Well!
Dr. Jenny
